Dr Amulundu Kalande Maurice

Dr Amulundu is the acting Dean of the School of Health Sciences. He is a public health, tropical diseases specialist and health systems manager. He studied as a medical student at the University of Nairobi and obtained the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCHB) degree in 1998 and went on to work in the public health sector from 1999 to 2013 in various countries of the Horn of Africa region where he gained wide skills and experience in public health practice both professionally and administratively in the areas of infectious diseases epidemiology, research and control; health staffs’ capacity building; health program leadership; health policy formulation; and health systems evaluation in the developing world. He studied part-time for a Master of Public Health(MPH) from the University of Nairobi from 2008 to 2013 while at the same time engaged in the stated public health work. Between 2013 and 2014 he studied in Nagasaki University for a Post-Graduate Diploma in Research and Product Development for Public Health (DRPD) and for a Master of Tropical Medicine (MTM) degree. Dr Amulundu has research interest in Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and has researched and published on Leishmaniasis and Schistosomiasis. He is presently admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree course in Tropical Diseases Epidemiology at the Nagasaki University.
