The South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) is a public University that was strategically established to play a leading role in the development and expansion of the opportunities for higher education and research.
In keeping with its vision of becoming a globally competitive Centre of Excellence in teaching, research, innovation and service, the University offers a diverse range of academic programmes, organized in schools and then departments. The University recognizes that healthcare is one of the major and essential services in the community and for this reason it is committed to offer health science programmes.
The health science programs are part of the key programmes the University is committed to invest in. This school is designed to prepare a healthcare professional who will have professional competence, the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to function effectively. The school provides holistic training in health-related programs.
The School of Health Sciences believes that research, education and service are the foundation for professional healthcare workersthat should recognize and address the health care needs of a global society and communities.
The philosophy of the school is anchored in the believe that programs should provide students an opportunity to progress within a laddered curriculum in order to enhance the healthcare professions and to serve as a foundation for life-long learning.
The school also believes in respect for the right of individual to information, and freedom of choice to health care through evidence- based practice.
